Welcome to the Singing Bible Drill!

I remember attending Vacation Bible School as a child at East Gadsden Baptist Church in Alabama. An energetic, talented, wonderful young lady named Melba Stafford would come into the Sunday School room and sit at the old piano. All the children would gather around her as she played, sang and taught us the books of the Bible song. I can still picture that happy time in my mind.

Now, thirty years later, my precious son, Joshua Pruett, is learning about the Bible at Ivalee Baptist Church in Attalla, Alabama. Kathy Allen, our wonderful Children's Director began preparing our kids to participate in our church and the Etowah Baptist Association Bible Drill in 2000. As I assisted, an idea began to take shape. There were a few songs out that helped with scripture memory, but to my knowledge, music for the entire cycle did not exist. The Children's Bible Drill is designed for 4th - 6th grade students. There are 3 cycles.

I have always enjoyed singing, song writing, entertaining (always as a volunteer) and music. This is my sixteenth year as a math teacher with the Etowah County Board of Education. I feel that the Good Lord has blessed me with an inspiration and vision to help children learn about the Bible. Thus, the Singing Bible Drill has been a labor of love. The Holy Spirit has been my guide as I matched the 25 memory verses and 10 key passages with familiar children's songs and old hymn favorites.

It is my hope and prayer that the Singing Bible Drill will be a great and fun way for the whole family to learn about the Bible. As you listen to the songs, get you Bible... Attention, Present Bible, and Participate! "Everyone is a winner, even a beginner, when you're learning about the Bible!"
